U P D A T E S When Sinterklaas arrives in The Netherlands, the excitement kicks in as he’s expected at various locations across the country at the same time. If you’re wondering how to explain this to your child, fear not! Sinterklaas has helper Sinterklazen to assist him, as meeting every child in The Netherlands personally over the next two weeks would be quite a challenge. 😉
Where can you meet Sinterklaas and his entourage?
Haarlem Cronjéstraat – November 25th
On November 25th, Sinterklaas and his entourage will visit the Cronjéstraat between 12 pm and 3 pm. More info about the program will be announced by the organization. Keep an eye on their website or Instagram account @CronjestraatHaarlem.
Haarlem Centrum Schalkwijk – November 25th
Sinterklaas, possibly a helper-Sinterklaas, will visit Centrum Schalkwijk between 1 pm and 4 pm. The Pieten will likely do something fun and special.
Bloemendaal – November 25th
In Bloemendaal children can also meet Sinterklaas and his Pieten. The exact time is not yet known when writing this info. One thing is for sure, he will defintely stop by Apéro Bloemendaal. Here you can enjoy a hot chocolate or a soup.
Heemstede – November 26th
On Sunday, November 26th, there will be a celebration in the Jan van Goyenstraat with a spectacular view of Sinterklaas and his Pieten seemingly taking a break from their busy activities. 😉
For about 70 years, you’ve been able to see Sinterklaas and his Pieten on the roof here!
The festivities begin at 5 pm, starting with singing Sinterklaas songs together with the Pieten band.
At Proeflokaal De Groene Druif , you can get hot chocolate and Glühwein, or reserve a table at Brasserie Boudewijn and enjoy the view of Sinterklaas and his entourage on the roof!
Heemstede – November 18th
On November 18th, after his arrival in The Netherlands, children can welcome Sinterklaas and his entourage along with the mayor at the Heemstede harbor around 11 a.m. From there the procession will move from Postlaan to the shopping street Raadhuisstraat – Binnenweg.
11:45 a.m.
Meet and Greet at Raadhuisstraat. The procession will continue along Binnenweg. with a stop near Julianalaan around 12:40 a.m.
12:45 p.m.
The procession will proceed toward the Blekersvaart.
Overveen – November 18th
On November 18th, around 3 p.m., Acting Mayor Ankie Broekers – Knol will welcome Sinterklaas and his entourage in Overveen. Children can hand over their drawings to Sint and take photos with him and the Pieten.
Zandvoort – November 19th
Sinterklaas arrives around 11 a.m., sailing in from the sea to Zandvoort beach, near Badhuisplein. From 1 p.m., Sinterklaas will be present at the Sint Festival, where children can shake hands with him and the Pieten.
Haarlem – November 19th
Sinterklaas and his Pieten will arrive in Haarlem at their ‘Pakjesboot’.
Noon
The boat will sail through the Spaarne river into the city, docking at Koudenhorn. After a brief stop, Sinterklaas, riding his white horse Ozosnel, will continue his journey.
Route
The route includes Koudenhorn – Spaarne – Damstraat – Grote Houtstraat – Proveniershofje – Gierstraat – Gedempte Oudegracht – Zijlstraat – Nieuwe Groenmarkt – Krocht – Smedestraat.
2 p.m.
Sint will reach Grote Markt from Smedestraat where he will be welcomed by the mayor. Afterwards kids can shake hands with Sinerklaas and hand over drawings, and take photos with him until 4 p.m.
